College of Medicine
The College of Medicine is the oldest unit of the University of the Philippines. Established in 1905, the College remains to be the leader in medical education in the country. It is a Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Center of Excellence in medical education and has consistently been the Top Performing School in the Philippine Licensure Examinations. It is also the first medical school in the Philippines to be accredited by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU).
College of Pharmacy
A leader in Pharmacy education in the Philippines, the College of Pharmacy consistently upholds high standards in Pharmacy training. It is the only institution in the Philippines that offers Industrial Pharmacy.
College of Dentistry
The UP College of Dentistry offers the best dental training in the country. Besides excellent undergraduate instruction, the college is known for its pioneering community involvement. It is the first to introduce community dentistry in the country.
College of Public Health
Being the only College of Public Health in the country, it is the leader in training for public health education, epidemiology, nutrition, parasitology, biostatistics, and microbiology. It has been designated as a Regional Center for Public Health (one of four regional centers) by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization in Tropical Medicine (SEAMEO-TROPMED) in 1965. Its Department of Health Education and Health Promotion is a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center.
College of Nursing
Besides being the leader in nursing education in the country, the UP College of Nursing is a WHO Collaborating Center for Leadership in Nursing Development in the Asia-Pacific region. It has also been designated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education.
College of Arts and Sciences
Among the various colleges of the University of the Philippines Manila, the College of Arts and Sciences is unique in being a multidisciplinal college. Being a provider of the liberal arts and basic sciences foundation to all UP Manila students aimed at producing holistic individuals, it had always emphasized on teaching, with research and extension as secondary functions.
College of Allied Medical Professions
Pioneering training in physical therapy in Asia, the College of Allied Medical Professions was founded in 1962. Currently, the college offers courses in Physical Therapy, Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy.
National Teacher Training Center for the Health Professions (NTTC-HP)
The NTTC-HP is the only institution in the Philippines and one of the two existing in the Asia-Pacific region that specializes in educating teachers for the Health Professions. The institution offers formal training in adult education, test construction and module design.
School of Health Sciences
In response to the decreasing numbers of physicians serving rural areas, UP Manila has adopted the step-ladder curriculum, leading to the degree of Doctor of medicine. A leader in the innovative medical education, the UP-SHS involves serial granting of degrees as the student progresses in his studies. It has been the model of several community-based medical programs worldwide.
